Arts Council England-funded Hadrian's Cavalry project

Hadrian’s Cavalry is a spectacular exhibition taking place in 2017 across 10 Roman museums/galleries across Hadrian’s Wall. The exhibition will explore the role and daily life of the elite cavalry forces of the Roman army.

We are managing all aspects of the project with our associate Nigel Mills. We are responsible for overseeing and implementing the exhibition programme on behalf of the project partnership.

We are project-managing the loans process, the specialist sub-contractors, events programmes, interpretation and design, outreach and education, and marketing.

Heritage Lottery Fund Coniston Copper project

Following a successful Heritage Lottery Fund Stage 2 bid, the Coniston Copper project is organising the repair and conservation of ten different historic copper mining structures. The project also provides volunteering opportunities and chances for people to get involved.

We contributed to both the Stage 1 and Stage 2 HLF bids by writing the Activity and Interpretation Plans. We are currently managing volunteers and delivery of the Activity and Interpretation plan.

Upper Nidderdale Landscape Partnership Scheme

We are researching, planning and developing content for a suite of interpretation panels for heritage sites in the Upper Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in North Yorkshire.

We are working with our friends at The Way Design to design and install the panels across several flagship sites in the  AONB which reflect its rich heritage.

The project is being carried out as a part of the Heritage Lottery and Leader-funded Upper Nidderdale Landscape Partnership Scheme.

Townend Surveys, Troutbeck, Lake District National Park

Townend Historic House is a fantastic example of vernacular architecture in the heart of the English Lake District. This property had been suffering from wet rot. The National Trust had to protect the building from deterioration.

We were invited to undertake a rectified photography survey of the buildings. We used a laser scanner and high-quality digital photographs to provide the client with a 3D model and rectified photographs.

People’s History Museum 'The People's Business' exhibition

In 2013, The Co-operative Group commissioned 'The People’s Business – 150 years of The Co-operative' exhibition. We worked as the exhibition and interpretation curator for the exhibition. We worked closely with the People’s History Museum and The Co-operative Group to develop and produce it.

We told the story of a journey from humble beginnings in a small Rochdale shop to one of the UK’s largest, most successful and ethical businesses. Our interpretation and project management plan guided content development and production. We developed exhibition content and design and managed external contracts.

Archives+ and Manchester Central Library learning resources

During 2015-2016 we developed Key Stage 2 resources for Manchester Archives + and Central Library. We audited and reviewed the current learning offer and resources at Archives+ and Manchester Central Library. The resources were developed in consultation with teachers and partners.

The resources comprised: a self-guided tour of Manchester Central Library for schools; a guide to facilitated visits and the outreach offer; and two Key Stage 2-3 learning resources drawing on archive material relating to Manchester Communities and the Manchester Ship Canal. These resources now form part of the permanent learning offer at Archives+ and Manchester Central Library.

Morecambe Bay Interpretation Strategy

Working with colleagues at TellTale, we led the development of an Interpretation Strategy for Morecambe Bay.

We undertook research, an interpretive audit and in-depth consultation to inform the strategy which will help to guide future development of interpretation across this special place.

This work was funded by Headlands to Headspace, Morecambe Bay

Partnership’s Heritage Lottery Landscape Partnership Scheme.

Heritage assessments and statements

We have been providing Heritage Statements ever since they became as a requirement for planning in 2010. We have worked on a huge range of projects across the country.

Developments for which we have provided statements and assessments span a range from fireplace alterations and residential extensions to wind turbines, solar farms and large housing developments.
