We undertook an assessment of the historic environment assets in the Castleshaw Valley area of the South Pennines to inform the development of an interpretive trail.

We carried out a historic map regression, research and a walkover survey to enable the development of options for the route of the trail. We appraised the routes and presented our findings to the project steering group.

We informed our options for the trail further by completing consultation with school groups, archaeological societies, partners and the public.

The outcome of the project was a report outlining our findings and recommendations for the development and implementation of the interpretive trail.
